Coast Run

- Coastal checkpoint chain
- Stage splits you can bank
- Offline map for the whole lap
- All-time and seasonal boards
Played across Britain — Cornwall to Caithness, mainland and the causeway islands
A checkpoint-to-checkpoint driving challenge on your phone. Pick a route, log the stops, watch your name move up the board.
Most road trips end as a camera roll nobody scrolls. RACE AROUND BRITAIN turns the same miles into a game with a score attached: a route is a chain of checkpoints, a checkpoint is a real place you have to physically arrive at, and arriving is the only way to claim it. No tapping it from the sofa — the app reads your position and either you are there or you are not.
Routes run from an afternoon's worth of coastline to multi-week laps of the whole mainland. You can run one straight through, or chip away at it over a year of weekends; progress is saved against your account, not against a single trip. Every claimed checkpoint stamps a time, a date and a position onto your log, and the log is what the leaderboards and badges are built from.
It is built for the way people actually drive in Britain: long gaps with no signal, weather that rewrites a plan at nine in the morning, and a passenger who ends up as navigator. Download the route before you set off and the map, the checkpoints and your progress all keep working with the phone in flight mode.
Screens from the road, and the roads they were taken on.
Each pack is a set of checkpoints, a map you can download, and its own board.
The long one: follow the shoreline of the mainland, clockwise or anti-clockwise, in one go or in stages.
The extremities of mainland Britain, linked as a single challenge with a clock you start yourself.
Short regional loops built to be done Saturday morning to Sunday night without booking time off.
The same checkpoints run by several cars at once, with a shared board for clubs, workplaces and group trips.
Packs are added through the year and stay in your account once unlocked. Ask us which pack suits the car and the time you have.
Claims are made on GPS position at the checkpoint, not on a tapped box. If the signal drops, the claim queues and syncs when you are back in coverage.
Download a pack before you leave and the map, the checkpoint list and your progress carry on offline — the Highlands, mid-Wales and most of the coast road included.
A weekly board for people chipping away at weekends, an all-time board for completed routes, and a crew board when several cars are running the same pack.
Badges are earned for finished chains, compass points, night arrivals and winter runs — each one stamped with the date and checkpoint you got it at.
Every claim lands in a trip log with time, date and location, exportable as a route file for the navigator or for the group chat afterwards.
This is the part we decided early and will not move on. Nothing in the game rewards going faster. There is no speed metric, no segment timing between checkpoints, and no board that ranks you on how quickly you covered a stretch of road. What is scored is which checkpoints you reached and, on timed packs, whether you finished inside a window you set yourself — a window wide enough that the sensible route and the legal speed are always the winning ones.
Claims are designed to be made stopped. The checkpoint stays claimable while you are inside its area, so you pull in, claim, and go. Most crews hand the phone to the navigator and never touch it moving; solo drivers claim at the stop. Weather, roadworks and a closed single-track road are part of the game, not a penalty — a route can be paused and picked up another day with nothing lost.
Location is used to verify a claim and to draw your own trip log. Your position is not broadcast live to other players, and boards show finished claims rather than where you are right now.
Did the first weekender loop with my brother as navigator. Half of it had no signal and the map just kept going. Claimed the last checkpoint in a car park in the rain and both of us were grinning like idiots.
I've been picking off the coast pack a stage at a time since spring. Nice that you can stop for three months and nothing resets. Would like more checkpoints in the Borders.
Our car club runs the crew board against each other now. The organiser view saves me chasing people for photos of where they got to.
Tell us what you drive and when you want to run it, and we'll come back with the pack that fits and how to get access.
Thanks — someone from the team will get in touch shortly with the route details.
